Last week, Dwight “Doc” Gooden made an appearance at PS 223 in Jamaica to help spread awareness about the City’s free summer meal program for kids.
What bothered us here at QConf was the press release that called him New York Yankees Great Dwight “Doc” Gooden. Yes, we are aware that the event was put together by the Yankees as part of their tour around the boroughs with various Yankees of the past and present.
But, Gooden has been and will always be a Met. At the very least, the release could have mentioned he was a former Met as well, since we are sure it is no coincidence they picked him for the Queens event. But it completely ignored the existence of the Yankees’ cross town rival.
He did record his only no-hitter in his career as a Yankee in 1996, but he spent less than three seasons in the pinstripes.
Hey Yankees, you have too much already. You cannot have Doctor K too.
