Loyola University Maryland has added several western Queens students to its Dean’s List for the Fall 2016 semester, including Middle Village’s Ryan Heenan (class of 2020), Long Island City’s Megan Malewich (class of 2018) and Astoria’s Daysi Perez (class of 2019).
To make the list, students must have a 3.5 grade point average and complete at least 15 credit hours.
Ithaca College has named several northeast Queens students to its Dean’s List for the Fall 2016 semester, including Ridgewood’s Linette Goris Jaquez, a Spanish major in the college’s School of Humanities and Sciences; Long Island City’s Gabriella Malave, an exploratory major in the college’s School of Humanities and Sciences; Elmhurst’s Anne Qu, an occupational therapy major in the college’s School of Health Sciences and Human Performance; Woodside’s Rocco Sanabria, a film, photography, video and visual arts major in the college’s School of Communications; and Ridgewood’s Chelsea Vanegas, a business administration major in the college’s School of Business.
Corona’s Pvt. Rivera Cepeda has joined the 222nd Chemical Company following a New York Army National Guard battle handoff ceremony in February, during which soldiers officially kicked off their military careers.
East Elmhurst’s Stacy Palacios, a science biology major, took part in SUNY Oswego’s alternative winter break program, during which she worked with Habitat for Humanity of Omaha, Nebraska to build affordable homes for local families.
Long Island City’s Jacob Belabed has been admitted to Cornell College for the Fall 2017 semester.
Maspeth’s Gabriel Spooner has earned his Bachelor of Science in biomedical engineering from Atlanta’s Georgia Institute of Technology. Spooner was among 3,200 students to receive degrees during the school’s commencement on Dec. 16.
