U.S. Air Force Airman Vivian E. Torres graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio, Texas.
The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills. Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.
Torres is the daughter of Jose and Maria Torres of Jackson Heights.
She is a 2012 graduate of Academy of Finance and Enterprise, Long Island City.

Students who achieve a grade point average of 3.50 or better with a minimum of 12 academic credits qualify for the Dean’s List.
The State University of New York at Potsdam recently named 920 students to the President’s List, in recognition of their academic excellence in the Spring 2016 semester. The SUNY Potsdam students were honored for earning top marks by President Kristin G. Esterberg.

To achieve the honor of being on the President’s List, each student must have satisfactorily completed 12 numerically-graded semester hours, with a grade point average of 3.5 or higher.
