Bucknell University has released the Dean’s List for outstanding academic achievement during the spring semester of the 2015-16 academic year.
Local Dean’s List students are: Valentina Acquista of Whitestone and Alexa Calcagnini of Flushing.
A student must earn a grade point average of 3.5 or higher on a scale of 4.0 to receive dean’s list recognition.
Maspeth resident Joseph Robert Byrnes has been named to the President’s List at James Madison University for the Spring 2016 semester. Students who earn President’s List honors must carry at least 12 graded credit hours and earn a GPA of 3.9 or above.
Katie Ng of Woodside. Ng is a member of the St. Lawrence University Class of 2016 and majored in computer science. Ng received the degree of bachelor of science magna cum laude. Ng graduated from Francis Lewis High School.
Depika Singha of Jackson Heights. Singha is a member of the St. Lawrence University Class of 2016 and majored in psychology. Singha received the degree of bachelor of science. Singha graduated from Health Prof and Human Serv High School.
Alexander M. Martin of Ridgewood. Martin is a member of the St. Lawrence University Class of 2016 and majored in music. Martin received the degree of bachelor of arts. Martin graduated from Grover Cleveland High School.
Ahmed Y. Elborolosy of Astoria, a senior majoring in mathematics, was named to the Dean’s List for the spring 2016 semester at Clarkson University.
Dean’s List students must achieve a minimum 3.25 grade-point average and also carry at least 14 credit hours.
More than 500 Buffalo State students presented their own research or creative work at the annual Student Research and Creativity Celebration held on campus in April 2016. Students from many academic disciplines including art, business, education, science, and technology explained their work using posters or presentations. Gallery and performance space was allocated to students in the performing and visual arts. The following students participated:

Astoria resident Kellyjean Boghossian, a master’s student in the Global Field Program from Miami University’s Project Dragonfly, will travel to Baja in June 2016. Boghossian will study desert and marine landscapes through ecological and social field methods. Boghossian is a senior keeper at Central Park Zoo.
Arjana Qirjaqi of East Elmhurst, has been named to the Spring 2016 Dean’s List at Kutztown University. To be eligible for Dean’s List, an undergraduate student must be registered for at least 12 credits and have a minimum grade point average of 3.6. More than 1,650 students were named to the list.
Worcester Polytechnic Institute has announced that Josue Canales of Middle Village, a member of the class of 2019 majoring in chemical engineering, was named to the university’s Dean’s List for academic excellence for the Spring 2016 semester. A total of 1,292 undergraduate students achieved the criteria required for WPI’s spring 2016 Dean’s List. The criteria for the WPI Dean’s List differs from that of most other universities as WPI does not compute a grade point average (GPA). Instead, WPI defines the Dean’s List by the amount of work completed at the A level in courses and projects.
Natalia Cecilio of Jackson Heights, is spending part of the summer volunteering in Bolivian schools through a unique faculty-led field course in collaboration with Save the Children International.
Twenty-two SUNY Oneonta students arrived in Bolivia on May 17 and will spend two weeks immersing themselves in Bolivian culture and doing service-learning projects in elementary schools, high schools and in the Save the Children offices.
