Nearly 200 SUNY Oneonta students presented original research and creative projects at the college’s 2016 Student Research and Creative Activity Day on April 20.
Created to recognize and promote undergraduate scholarship and creative activity, Student Research & Creative Activity Day has become the premier on-campus event for scholarly student exhibition. A total of 180 students, supported by 66 faculty sponsors, participated in this year’s event, which featured presentations on a wide variety of topics across academic disciplines.
Joanne Wong, a freshman from Maspeth was one of those students. Wong worked with Jian Cui of the Art Department on a project titled “The Little Monk Animation.”
Rochester Institute of Technologys College of Liberal Arts honored student achievement in writing with the presentation of the 2016 Henry and Mary Kearse Distinguished Lecture and Student Writing Award Ceremony.
Award winners included Sarathi Hansen of East Elmhurst, a fifth-year computer science major representing the Department of Modern Languages and Cultures, with “The First Day of My College.”

Major General Anthony P. German, The Adjutant General for the State of New York, announces the promotion of members of the New York Army National Guard in recognition of their capability for additional responsibility and leadership.
Judith Ignacio from Ridgewood, serving with the Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 369th is promoted to the rank of Specialist. Leyton Jimenez from East Elmhurst, serving with the 37th Finance Detachment is promoted to the rank of Specialist.
Md Hossain from Sunnyside, serving with the Company B, 642nd Support Battalion is promoted to the rank of Private First Class. Edwin Zambrano from Glendale, serving with the Company B, 1-69th infantry is promoted to the rank of Sergeant.
The following students have been named to the Champlain College President’s List for achieving a grade point average of 4.0 or higher in the Fall 2015 semester.
