Residents will be able to choose as many projects as they want totaling up to $1 million. The projects were chosen by a committee of 60 community volunteers serving as budget delegates.
The list includes $400,000 for a music studio at Bayside High School; auditorium upgrades at PS 169; technology upgrades at PS 159; $216,000 for upgrades to the meeting room at Douglaston Library; $105,000 for NYPD security cameras; $375,000 for pedestrian lighting at Little Bay Park; $400,000 to resurface a roller rink at Little Bay Park; $300,000 to renovate a basketball court at Bay Terrace playground; $300,000 to renovate the front portico of the Bayside Historical Society’s Officers’ Club at Fort Totten and $160,000 to install countdown clocks along the Q12 and Q13 bus routes.
“Over the last several months, my office has been working with community volunteers as they put together a list of excellent projects that will go a long way towards supporting our schools, streets and parks,” Vallone said in a statement. “With a wide range of voting locations throughout Northeast Queens, we encourage and hope to see everyone come out and vote for the projects that they believe will have the best impact on the community.”
