This postcard, submitted by Joan Cataldo of South Ozone Park, shows the First M.E. Church on 118th Street at 97th Avenue in Morris Park, now South Richmond Hill, in the early 20th Century. The church was bought by a group of Sikhs from Punjab, India who had settled in the neighborhood in 1972 and converted into one of the first Sikh temples on the East Coast. In 2002, a gas leak caused an explosion and fire that destroyed the building. A gurdwara, the name for a Sikh temple, was constructed in its place and still stands.
