Dexter Park in Woodhaven has a legendary history starting in the early 1800s as a race track for horses and ending in 1955 as a stock car oval.
But its greatest fame came in the first half of the 20th century when it was a baseball field used by both semi-pro teams and the Negro Leagues. It has the reputation for being the first stadium with lights for night baseball.
