The familiar opening to “Baba O’Reilly” will echo through the Forest Hills Tennis Stadium next year.
The first date for the summer concert series at the tennis facility was announced on Friday, with the classic English rock band The Who scheduled to play the historic venue on Saturday, May 30.
The show comes more than four decades after the band last performed at the stadium, in July 1971.
The Who concert is part of the band’s 50th anniversary tour. The North American portion of the tour will begin in April 2015 and conclude in November. The Forest Hills date will be the final show of the first leg of the tour.
Other local dates for the 2015 tour they will play includes Barclays Center on May 26, the Nassau Coliseum on May 20 and Madison Square Garden on Oct. 27.
The band has released 11 studio albums including “Who’s Next” and “Quadrophenia.” And will be releasing a 12th record to coincide with the tour.
