Have you ever been issued a parking ticket? Then you’re probably all too familiar with the rush of despair that comes after finding that notorious orange envelope slipped under your windshield wiper.
That is, unless you live in Long Island City.
According to Community Board 2, people were upset after finding what looked like a swarm of parking tickets along 5th Street.
“People didn’t know what it was… they were all upset,” CB2 Chairman Pat O’Brien said. “They weren’t parking tickets. They were flyers for the new Gentlemen’s Club on 27th street.”
O’Brien said that upon closer investigation of the flyers, the orange postcards were actually an advertisement for Sugardaddy’s, a local strip club. On the front, the ad simply listed the strip club’s address. But, on the back, it advertised happy hour with a risqué image of a woman dressed in a police uniform.
After receiving numerous complaints, the board notified the NYPD to let them know about the faux parking violations in the area.
