Did you know that stress can be the cause of bloating and indigestion—and it can even slow down your metabolism?
As a Certified Personal Trainer and nutrition coach, I encourage clients to incorporate holistic remedies into their lifestyle to help decrease stress, bloat and indigestion, while speeding up there metabolism.
Below are 10 holistic remedies that I apply into my lifestyle and recommend to clients:
Digestzen: This is an essential oil that helps ease stomach discomfort, such as bloating and indigestion, while boosting metabolism. Add one to two drops of digestzen to warm or room temperature water and drink within 30 minutes prior to a meal. For immediate relief, apply one to two drops directly on the abdomen after a meal. For sensitive skin, use a carrier oil, such as coconut oil.
Slim & Sassy: This powerful essential oil helps to improve your metabolism, curbs hunger and gives you energy. Add four drops to warm or room temperature water and drink before eating a meal.
Marjoram: Marjoram helps to decrease stress and anxiety, and can also restore the balance of female hormones and regulate menstruation as well as treat symptoms associated with menopause.
Epsom Salt Baths: This helps to deflate belly bloat and pulls out excess water out of the body. Add two cups of Epsom Salt to your bath and soak for 15 to 20 minutes.
Meditation: A daily practice of meditation can help calm the mind down while helping the body to relax. I recommend 10 to 15 minutes of meditation per day. There are many styles of meditation, but I recommend deep breathing, Chakra balance healing and guided visual meditation.
Lemon Tea: Drink warm or room temperature water with lemon first thing in the morning on an empty stomach to help the digestive system to flow. Lemons are a natural diuretic—and they will help to flush out excess body fluids.
Dairy: Avoid dairy as many adults naturally produce less digestive enzymes lactose as we get older.
Probiotics: This helps to alleviate the symptoms of bloating by breaking down food and extracting minerals and nutrients essential to the body.
Walking: After a meal, take a 15- to 30-minute walk to help decrease bloat and improve metabolism.
Dark Chocolate: Eating dark chocolate with cacao content of 70 percent or higher acts as anti-inflammatory compound, which leads to losing belly bloat.
I recommend consulting with your physician prior to starting this plan. For best results, work one on one with a nutrition coach, holistic healer and personal trainer. Email questions to firstname.lastname@example.org. Redeem this article to receive a 30-minute nutrition coaching session.
