Six Bayside students were sent to the hospital on Friday after two students were involved in a fight and one of them threw bleach, splashing five additional students, police said.
At approximately 11:27 a.m. on Feb. 2, police responded to a call at Bayside’s Benjamin Cardozo High School, where it was reported that a 16-year-old girl poured pickle juice on another and the second girl responded by throwing bleach.
All six students were taken to North Shore University Hospital for examination. The girl—whose name was not released since she is a minor—who threw the bleach was arrested and will be charged, police said.
“There is no place for this in our schools, and the NYPD and EMS immediately responded to this serious incident that is under investigation,” said Miranda Barbot, a spokeswoman for the city’s Department of Education. “The safety of students and staff is our top priority, and we are providing the school with additional support.”
