If your Valentine’s Day plans are not already set in stone, there’s no need to worry. Queens has a variety of options for couples—from the romantic to the humorous—for the holiday.
Those looking for a romantic dinner out can contact any number of fine dining establishments in their neighborhoods and make reservations. A few sites are holding special events, including Woodside’s Casa Del Chef—located at 39-06 64th St. The eatery will host live music by Katelyn Richards and a four-course, prix fixe tasting menu on Feb. 14. The event runs from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Those interested in attending should make reservations by calling (718) 457-9000 or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
Long Island City’s Penthouse 808—located at 8-08 Queens Plaza South—will hold a four-course prix fixe dinner with music by DJ Tommy Bones and a gorgeous backdrop of the city’s skyline. Admission is $65 and reservations are required—call (718) 289-6118.
Howard Beach’s Russo’s on the Bay—located at 162-45 Cross Bay Blvd.—is holding a Valentine’s Day dinner and dance from 7:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. The dinner includes hot and cold antipasto, pasta, a seven-choice dinner, mini dessert assortment and open bar. The event is $85 per person.
Those looking for more of a party atmosphere—and hoping to kick off the holiday early—can drop by Astoria’s Aloha NYC, located at 37-02 Astoria Blvd. South, for the Lovers and Friends Valentine’s Affair, which will be held on Feb. 10 at 10 p.m. Women will get in free before 1 a.m. and bottles of champagne can be purchased for $100 before midnight. Couples who RSVP will get a free bottle of champagne and there will be performances by several local R&B groups.
Queens residents looking to head into the holiday feeling relaxed might want to drop by Lockwood—a lifestyle store located at 77-13 37th Ave. in Jackson Heights. The store is offering a Self Confidence and Love Reiki event for the holiday on Feb. 10 from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Participants will learn techniques that can restore self confidence and inner peace.
On Feb. 11, Astoria’s Bohemian Hall—known affectionately as the “Beer Garden”—is holding a Pre-Valentine’s Day Market from noon to 6 p.m. Visitors will be able to peruse a variety of handmade and vintage wares that can make for great gifts for the holiday.
On Valentine’s Day, Astoria’s QED—located at 27-16 23rd Ave.—is hosting three separate events. At 7:30 p.m., The Perfect Couple: A Game Show will include two sets of longtime companions going head-to-head in a series of quizzes and cooperative challenges. A Valentine’s Day Show will kick off at 9 p.m., during which several comedians will perform and, at 10:30 p.m., Soft Core is a comedic showcase during which performers riff and crack jokes over a cheesy soft-core adult movie.
And Corona’s Paint-Plus-Sip NYC—located at 35-15 Junction Blvd.—is hosting a holiday-themed event on Feb. 14 at 7 p.m.
Participants will create a love-inspired painting of a heart coming out of a glass of wine. A professional artist will guide attendees through the process to make an acrylic painting. The event will include an open bar and all materials and supplies will be provided. Visitors must be at least 21 years of age and should arrive 10 minutes prior to start time.
