The Queens Council on the Arts recently celebrated their 50th Anniversary.
Their Fab at 50 party, at LIC Landing, was a Queen’s who’s who of the Borough’s scene with Borough President Melinda Katz paying tribute to her mother Jeanne Dale Katz and QCA’s founder, state Sen. Michael Giannaris (D- Astoria), Councilman Jimmy Van Bramer (D- Sunnyside), from the Mayor’s office Nick Gulotta, QCA staffers as well as many local legilslators.
QCA’s Executive Director Hoong Yee Lee Krakauer and board member Gianna Cerbone Teoli got the party started with the spins of DJ Rampage Global and performances by Nona Hendryx, whose performance also featured Will Calhoun from Living Colour, with bassist Warren McCray and guitarist Ronny Drayton. A QCA release stated, “The energy was of epic proportions.”
