ProHEALTH Dental—in collaboration with Mount Sinai Hospital and Henry Schein dental supply distributor—celebrated the grand opening of its new Long Island City facility with a ribbon-cutting last Thursday.
ProHealth Dental, which currently serves Lake Success and Howard Beach, is debuting its Long Island City site this week. The company’s goal is to provide dental care that decreases a number of chronic ailments, such as diabetes and cardiovascular disease.
“We want to make sure that the community is educated about the fact that good oral health is key to overall wellness, which is why we are affiliated with Mount Sinai and ProHEALTH Health Systems,” said Sharon Treffeisen, the marketing director for ProHEALTH Dental. “There is a lot of research that correlates oral and overall health.”
Treffeisen said one element that makes the facility unique is that it provides all services under one roof, including specialists in all areas of dentistry and pediatrics.
“The Queens community is going to have access to multi-specialty care so that children through grandparents can come here for cleaning or can come here for the most sophisticated coronal bridging implant work,” said Neil Karnofsky, a managing partner and chief dental officer at ProHEALTH Dental. “We have a relationship with Mount Sinai where we’re going to be integrating dental care and medical care together for the better overall health of the patient.”
The new state-of-the-art office contains eight treatment rooms, all of which offer the latest dental technology.
“We are among the first health systems to address the important connection between oral and overall health through the coordination of care between patients’ primary-care physicians and dentists,” said Kenneth L. Davis, president and CEO of the Mount Sinai Health System. “We are pleased to be working with ProHEALTH Dental to further our mission of providing preventative care, promoting health and wellness, and expanding access to care in the communities we serve.”
Norton L. Travis, CEO of ProHEALTH Dental, told the Queens Tribune that Long Island City is booming in development and as a result of this population surge, there will be a greater need for healthcare options. This is one of the reasons why ProHEALTH chose the western Queens site.
