Police said that they have arrested a 40-year-old Elmhurst man who is accused of groping a woman on the 7 train after someone recognized him in a picture taken by the victim.
On Tuesday, police arrested John Anturi, who lives on Ithaca Street, at approximately 7:40 a.m. on charges of forcible touching and sexual abuse.
Around 4:45 p.m. on Nov. 11, a 28-year-old woman was riding a northbound 7 train in the vicinity of 45th Road and Court House Square in Long Island City when Anturi—who was standing directly behind her on the train—allegedly began to grind his groin area against her buttocks.
As the victim attempted to get off the train at the station, the suspect allegedly grabbed her backside, police said. The victim was able to take cell phone pictures of Anturi before he allegedly fled on foot to parts unknown.
Police arrested Anturi at his job after someone recognized the photo taken by the victim and contacted the NYPD.
