State Sen. Jose Peralta (D-Elmhurst) has allocated $100,000 to Corona based Dominico-American Society of Queens (DAS) to enable the group to offer services to his district’s immigrant population.
The funding would allow the nonprofit to offer immigrant services such as adult literacy classes, ESL courses, job training and youth development.
“Our services will continue to remain accessible to those who require assistance,” said DAS Executive Director Jose Tejada. “Improvements in our staffs’ professional development will come as a direct result of funding being allocated to high-quality training sessions, allowing them to better assist the individuals and families we serve. We believe in the progress of our community, as each resident deserve a chance to reach their highest goals and aspirations.”
