Even a few raindrops couldn’t dampen the mood as over 1,000 friends, visitors and partygoers attended the Paper Factory Hotel’s 3rd Annual Summer Party on July 28.
The eight-hour celebration in Long Island City was arranged throughout the hotel’s multi-leveled event spaces and rooms, including lobby, penthouse, outdoor gardens, performance stages, restaurant and newly-opened nightclub.
Among the special guests of the evening were; Lisa Ramos, TV personality, model and author, whose debut book will be on shelves in September, Chanel Omari, WBLI-FM on-air personality/celebrity reporter and model Minyoung Cheong.
Creator and Owner of the Paper Factory Hotel Gal Sela said, “It’s nearly impossible to pinpoint the highlight of the night between the live music, impromptu dance performances, winged angels, fire breathers, drum troupes and amazing DJs. Every year we organize the party, we are shocked by the turnout and this year was no exception—there was already a line around the block even before we opened the doors.”
“I loved the different options you could experience under one roof, there were dance classes, great food, bar service and a cool vibe. It felt like a party you would see in the Caribbean, not in New York City,” said Lisa Ramos.
The roster consisted of headliners–the Yunior Terry Band and the New York Ska-Jazz Ensemble, Salsa dancer Mariana Parma, Tango by Kelly Lettieri & Diego Gorostiaga, swing dancers Akemi Kinukawa & Partner and Earthly Delights Burlesque–Mary Cyn and Rita Menweep. Also performing were Samba New York, DJs Geko Jones, Trotter, 2Melo, DJ Chela, JunXion NYC and 3D Projections by Rhizome NYC
Hamptons Cigar Manufactory & Museum set up a pop up shop, while body painters, drum lines and performers on stilts interacted with an enthusiastic crowd of revelers.
The owners of the hotel organized the event to show their gratitude to the Queens and New York communities that have welcomed the hotel, which opened at 37-06 36th St. in December 2013.
