A 68-year-old Queens man died during a basement fire in the early hours of Sunday morning in Ozone Park, the FDNY said.
A total of 12 trucks and 60 firefighters responded to a 911 call at 2:37 a.m. at 106-14 97th Ave. After firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze at approximately 3:40 a.m., they found the body of the homeowner, Mohinvei Singh, in the basement.
Singh, 68, was pronounced dead at the scene by EMS. The cause of death has yet to be determined and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
According to previously published reports, three families were living in the house, but they all got out safely. Neighbors said that they believed the families were operating a cab company out of the home.
