A man stole a $4,000 ring, $500 worth of alcohol and $20 worth of tea from an 85-year-old Flushing woman, according to the NYPD.
The robber gained access to the victim’s residence, near Maple Avenue and Kissena Boulevard, by responding to an ad that she placed in a newspaper for a furniture sale.
After he entered the apartment, the robber placed the alcohol and tea in a bag and then demanded that the woman give him her ring, the NYPD said. The woman initially refused, but then the man brandished a knife, and she complied with his demands. The man then fled the location. There were no injuries.
The NYPD is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect, who is described as a balding 45-year-old man with a light complexion. He is believed to be five-foot-nine-inches, weighs approximately 150 pounds and was last seen wearing a striped shirt, blue jeans and black sneakers.
