Want to escape from the icy wintery hell that has tortured us this winter?
Passengers trying to flee the grasps of old man winter for sunny, warm Mexico, almost didn’t get off the ground Sunday.
Aeromexico Flight 403 was due to leave JFK for Mexico City, where it was 80 degrees and sunny Monday, at 4:45 p.m. on Sunday. But according to the Daily News, passengers sat on the plane at the gate for over 5 hours as the jet was de-iced in Sunday’s snowstorm.
The winter-weary passengers told the Daily News that they were given only peanuts and water to eat and were told if they left the plane, they may not be able to get back on.
The plane did eventually take off, however, and the good people of Flight 403 were freed from their cold, metal prison.
We at QConf remember vividly the story of the JetBlue plane stuck on a JFK tarmac for eight hours during a snowfall several years ago that led to restrictions to how long passengers can be required to stay on a plane during a delay. The Daily News reports that federal regulations for international flights are four hours.
If that’s true, that may mean muy problemas for Aeromexico.
