Come On In

Tourism in New York City is at an all-time high, and some of those outsiders are making their way into the Queens restaurants and museums that pay for space in city guides, that promote themselves online and that aim to get their share of the tourism dollar.

But then there is the rest of us – the people who grew up here, who have lived here for years, or who have assimilated to the pace and surroundings of our neighborhoods – the insiders.

We are the ones who know who to rely upon for great service, good schools, the perfect hot dog, a good gym and a fun place to host a party.

We live here, we work here, we raise our kids here and we know the shortcuts, which place on the LIE sells the cheapest roses, when the best time is to go to the DMV and when to stay away from the Queens Boulevard exit near Queens Center Mall.

Check out this compilation of facts, figures and fun as we give you an insider’s peak into this borough that we call home.

In Frog We Trust

Only a person from Queens would know where to find this spitting frog. After all, it’s not the kind of thing you will find a travel brochure when planning a trip to the Big Apple.

Frankly, you won’t find much of Queens in the brochure at all.

But we don’t need travel brochures to know where to go – we have the knowledge and experience of life in the borough to know where to find what we need and how to be secure in our decisions.

Thank you Madison Avenue, but no, we don’t need flashy ads to send us to the best places, to direct our kids to the great schools or to know what makes the pretzel guy on Metropolitan Avenue.

We live it every day: we enjoy our surroundings; we see all that makes this borough great; and if we want to have a frog spit on us we can head over to Wayanda Park on Hollis Avenue on a warm summer evening and enjoy the mist while hearing real frogs murmur in the distance.

They are there – you just have to know how to listen

s a place for success. Seize the moment, seize the opportunity, seize the day.
