The American-Italian Cancer Foundation’s mobile, no-cost breast cancer screening program will hold free mammograms and clinical breast exams on Dec. 1 at 1288 Central Ave. in Far Rockaway and 114-39 Sutphin Blvd. in Jamaica. There will also be a free screening on Dec. 7 at 6200 Beach Channel Drive in Arverne.
The University of Albany’s Living-Learning Community program volunteered this fall on campus and in Albany to write letters to active military members. Assemblyman David Weprin and the faculty of Irwin Altman Middle School 172 are sponsoring a holiday toy drive to honor the memory of Jason Mark Weinstein, a former staff member for Councilman Rory Lancman.
The drive will benefit the children of Heartshare Human Services of New York as well as children in programs throughout Richmond Hill. Participants should bring a new or gently unwrapped toy, book or game suitable for children, ages 12 and below, to Weprin’s offices, located at 185-06 Union Turnpike in Fresh Meadows and 111-12 Atlantic Ave., suite 5, in Richmond Hill.
