Several students from Queens have been added to the dean’s list at Colgate University for the fall semester—including Astoria’s Mostafa Mohamed (a molecular biology major), Forest Hills’ Claire Bergerson (an English major), St. Albans’ Wayne Sampson (a philosophy and religion major) and Queens Village’s Chinyere Okogeri (a neuroscience major). To make the list, students must obtain a 3.3 grade point average and complete at least three courses per semester.
The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi recently initiated a number of Queens students at Fordham University. Only the top 10 percent of seniors and 7.5 percent of juniors are eligible to be invited into the society. Queens students who were initiated include Richmond Hill’s Sean Adcroft; Kew Gardens’ Olivia Ross; Forest Hills’ Siwen Xie; Astoria’s Nicole Werpachowski; Long Island City’s Guanchen Xie; Ridgewood’s Manny Linares; Flushing’s Christopher Artun, Tin Lwin and Elliott Blitenthal; Oakland Gardens’ Abraham Malkhasyan; Whitestone’s John Grima; Bellerose’s Dawn-Marie Canas; South Ozone Park’s Anna Smith; Jamaica’s Sadia Johnson and Usama Shaikh; Cambria Heights’ Sharif Keshk; Queens Village’s Oruada Oruada; Far Rockaway’s Brynde Rieder and Queens’ Naika Accimeus and Kaweier Zhao.
Bard College at Simon’s Rock has added three Queens students—Ozone Park’s Akarsh Balaji, Ridgewood’s Ali Levison and Queens’ Mario Campbell—to its dean’s list for the fall semester. To make the list, students must complete 14 credits and earn a 3.5 grade point average.
Several Queens students recently completed their degrees in business, technology, health professions and urban education at Davenport University, including Forest Hills’ Rushel Nisonov, Kew Gardens’ Vladimir Shamalov, Flushing’s Alvaro Cardona and Jamaica’s Rahat Ahmed.
The New York National Guard has promoted several of its members from Queens—including Forest Hills’ Dwight Williams (promoted to staff sergeant, assigned to Company C, 101st Signal Battalion); Richmond Hill’s Joel Reyescruceta (promoted to specialist, assigned to Company C, 101st Signal Battalion); Jamaica’s Jazmin Anthony (promoted to private first class, assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 3-142nd Aviation) and Marquis Paige (promoted to specialist, assigned to Company D, 1-69th Infantry); and Far Rockaway’s Conwayne Mitchell (promoted to specialist, assigned to Company A, 1-224th Aviation Security and Support Battalion).
