This is a call to all Foo Fighters fans.
The famous rock band is set to play Citi Field on July 16, 2015, as part of its world tour in support of its eighth studio album, “Sonic Highways.” This is the only New York area show announced so far.
The new album was produced by Butch Vig and released on Nov. 10. For this album, the band recorded each of its eight tracks in a famous studio in eight cities. The writing process and frontman Dave Grohl’s interaction with musical legends are covered on a HBO miniseries also titled “Sonic Highways.”
New York City’s stop for the band included a trip to The Magic Chop to record the closing track, “I Am A River.”
In an effort to combat scalpers and Internet bots that automatically buy tickets when they go on sale, the band is having a “Beat the Bots” pre-sale. To get these tickets, fans physically have to go to the Citi Field box office on Nov. 22. The sale will start at 9 a.m. and run until 3 p.m. The limit for this pre-sale is two floor tickets and four seated tickets.
According to a release from the New York Mets, tickets go on sale to the general public at 10 a.m. Dec. 5 online at mets.com/foos and by phone at (718) 507-TIXX. Mets season ticket holders will have access to a special online presale beginning Dec. 1.
Prices have yet to be announced.
In addition to songs from the new album, fans can expect to hear Foo Fighters hits from the past 20 years, including “Everlong,” “Learn To Fly,” “Best of You,” and “All My Life.”
British hard rock duo Royal Blood is the opening act for the Citi Field concert.
