A Flushing man was arrested in the early Sunday morning hours after he was discovered to allegedly posses a large cache of guns in his basement. Police had responded after the man had called police and stated that people were shooting up his home.
Alan Hoo, 46, of 137-37 Mulberry Ave. in Flushing, called 911 and stated that people unknown to him were shooting up his apartment and he was hiding in the bathroom. When police arrived at 4:27 a.m., they were let into the house by other individuals living there and then allegedly encountered an irrational Hoo. When officers went into the basement, Hoo told them that there were guns in the house and came out of the bathroom with his hands up.
The officers allegedly saw a number of handguns, rifles and ammunition laid out throughout the basement. Hoo was taken into custody without incident. Police could also allegedly see that his basement had numerous bullet holes in the walls and ceiling. He was charged with five counts of criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree and two counts in the fourth degree. He was also charged with one count of reckless endangerment and one count of unlawful possession of fireworks.
The investigation is ongoing.
