The Tuesday Morning Music Club of Douglaston will be presenting its first free concert of classical music of the year on Jan. 24 as part of its series presenting one concert every fourth Tuesday of the month that its been putting on for 95 years at the Community Church of Douglaston.
This free concert will feature a program presented by Flutissimo!, a flute quartet comprising Lauren Ausubel, Claudia Beeby, Leslie Strait and Jerene Weitman. The group will present music of McMichael, Schocker and Wye.
In addition, TMMC’s 2016 Young Artist competition winner Koh Kazama will present music of D. Scarlatti, Piazzolla and Verdey. Currently, Kazama is pursuing his doctorate of Music Arts at Stony Brook University, and holds a Master of Music degree and Artist Diploma from Yale University.
The concert will take place at the Community Church of Douglaston on 39-50 Douglaston Parkway at 11 a.m. Admission is free and open to the public, with no tickets required.
The TMMC of Douglaston consists of well-known musicians who have had careers as professional singers, pianists, violinists, bass baritone and clarinet players. Because of their level of expertise, the musicians are able to perform monthly shows without months of practice.
Since 1921, the TMMC of Douglaston has enhanced the cultural life of its membership and the community by presenting the finest of musical works and performers to its audience of general members and guests. The club also provides scholarship assistance to talented and worthy student musicians. Guests are invited to become members to help the Club continue this important cultural tradition.
