The city’s Police Department is searching for a mugger who assaulted a woman and stole her wallet while she walked home in Ozone Park.
On Jan. 11, a 72-year-old woman was walking home when a masked man snuck up behind her, put her in a headlock, punched her in the face and forcibly removed her wallet, which contained her Medicaid benefits card. The robber then pushed her to the ground and fled westbound on Pitkin Avenue. The police arrived at the scene at 75th Street and Pitkin Avenue at 9:55 p.m.
The victim had swelling on her face, but refused medical attention at the scene.
The mugger is described as a black man who was last seen wearing black jeans, a blue hooded sweatshirt and white sneakers.
