Delta is doing a great public relations job, but Senior Vice President Gail Grimmett failed to mention at the recent business forum breakfast that this airline flies the oldest, loudest, and most fuel inefficient planes, the MD88s, which are incapable of making noise abatement turns and are unable to fly certain routes which would help already overburdened neighborhoods such as Flushing.
According to Bloomberg News, Delta helped create the infamous LGA runway 13 TNNIS Climb, which has wreaked havoc on Northeast Queens for four years now and inspired the creation of the Quiet Skies Congressional Caucus.
Lastly, Delta is behind the push to eliminate the longstanding perimeter rule at LGA, which, if lifted, would bring even more noise and air pollution to our neighborhoods. If Delta truly wants to give back to the community, it should start addressing these very serious issues.
