Former City Councilman Dan Halloran has been laying low since his conviction on corruption charges last year.
New court documents surfaced recently during his appeals process that revealed Halloran has become a certified scuba instructor.
Most people these days change careers many times, so it makes sense that the former lawyer and ex-politician would find a new way to make some money while he delays a prison sentence through his appeals.
But, donning a scuba suit to teach lessons to others who will have years to swim freely around open waters has got to be the most unexpected path.
The skill set likely won’t come in handy when he is in a federal prison, since there are no drunk tanks in prison and we here at QConf doubt there are any pools in the yard.
At least he may get in one scuba season this summer before he has to take off his scuba suit and put on his prison jumpsuit when and if he is eventually sentenced.
