As part of the ongoing reconstruction of the 71st Avenue bridge over Cooper Avenue in Glendale, intermittent bridge closures and detours will go into effect Monday, July 11.
From 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, the 71st Avenue Bridge will be closed to traffic. All traffic will be detoured up 75th Street, then east on 69th Road, north on 79th Street, then east again on 68th Road to 80th Street.
All other hours, the bridge will be open.
Alternating, the westbound and eastbound sides of Cooper Avenue under the bridge will be closed from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Westbound traffic will be detoured south on 80th Street, west on Myrtle Avenue, north on 73rd Place back to Cooper Avenue, while eastbound traffic will be detoured south of 76th Street, east on Myrtle Avenue and north on 80th Street.
The work is to repair concrete and lighting on the overpass, as well as curb and sidewalk replacement. The project began June 27.
