As the holiday season gets closer, it can be easy to forget about stopping in to the doctor’s office for a checkup on your hearing and eyesight.
EyeCare Vision Services, which has been providing audiology and optometry care to patients throughout the New York area for 16 years, offers convenient services all over the Borough.
With four audiology locations and eight optometry locations in Queens, a hearing or sight test is not far, no matter where you live or work.
Barbara Bader, director of marketing, said EyeCare takes all Medicaid and Medicare insurance plans, but will not deny anyone service if they do not have insurance.
“We don’t turn any patients away,” she said. “Even if they don’t have the ability for an eye exam, we’ll do it for free.”
If there is any indication of a medical condition, they will refer the patient to a preferred doctor.
In addition to examinations, EyeCare offers hearing aid repair, eyeglass repair and a full line of frames and lenses to limit the amount of stops a patient must take to get efficient care.
EyeCare does not charge a fee for spectacle adjustments, minor repairs to eyeglasses and all frames and lenses are under a one-year warrantee.
They also opened a medical center in Cambria Heights more than three years ago that offers a library near the sitting room for patients to relax before seeing the doctor.
Bader said that EyeCare reaches out to the community by attending health fairs throughout the City and Long Island at senior centers, libraries and local churches. At the fairs, they bring portable vision and hearing screeners to provide free exams.
“We can check to see if a patient’s eyeglasses are working for them,” she said. “If needed, we refer them back to the medical center.”
On average, they handle about 50 to 100 exams at each health fair to try and reach as many patients as they can who either do not know about their services or cannot make it to a center.
Bader also said that EyeCare provides care for patients as young as 6 years old.
The medical center in Cambria Heights is located at 206-20 Linden Blvd. and they also have locations in Jamaica, Forest Hills, Long Island City, Astoria, Elmhurst, Flushing and Richmond Hill.
For any questions or to make an appointment at any location, call their call center at (855) 423-3700. There is a full staff answering phones from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., seven days a week and a voice message service outside of those hours. Any patient leaving a message will receive a callback the next day, Bader said.
