If you want to fill the shoes of Mary Ann Carey, you can now send in your résumé.
CB9 has begun to accept applications in search for their new District Manager. Carey, the board’s former DM, retired on Oct. 1 after 35 years on the job.
The board created a search committee to find her replacement and they, the input of Ralph Gonzalez, the board’s chairman, will look through the résumés of all the applicants.
According to the job posting sent by CB9, the requirements for the job include a college degree and experience working in a community-related field.
Some preferred skills for the job, according to the ad, are “supervisory and administrative experience necessary, as well as demonstrable background dealing with members of the public, “ and “Must have knowledge of city government and be familiar with issues facing the Community Board 9 geographical communities of Woodhaven, Ozone Park, Richmond Hill and Kew Gardens.”
Gonzalez said good verbal skills and the ability to work with City agencies are also things they will look for in their new District Manager.
Although it is not a requirement, Gonzalez said it would be a benefit to the candidate if they live in one of the neighborhoods that CB9 covers.
The chairman said there is no exact time frame for when a new District Manager will be chosen, but he anticipates it taking less time than he originally thought because the search committee is dedicated to taking time to cull through the applications for the best candidates.
Gonzalez said they would likely meet again in the second week of November after the deadline to submit an application has passed. The hours for the position are listed as “full time, flex hours” and the salary is commensurate with experience.
To apply for the District Manager’s position, please send your résumé via registered return receipt to Community Board 9 – Application Submission 120-55 Queens Blvd., Suite 310-A Kew Gardens, New York 11424.
