Hudson Valley Community College has added a number of Queens students to its president’s list for the fall 2017 semester. Students who made the list include Fresh Meadows’ Gabriella Mignone (who is studying in the non-matriculated academic program), Flushing’s Linfeng Li (who is studying in the individual studies academic program), Kew Gardens’ Abhishek Sinha (who is studying in the business administration academic program), Astoria’s Christopher Duffy (who is studying in the non-matriculated academic program), Ridgewood’s Vincenzo Giacalone (who is studying in the computer information systems academic program), Sunnyside’s Sebastian Ksiezopolski (who is studying in the non-matriculated academic program) and Queens Village’s Joehl Ocana (who is studying in the health information management and technology academic program). To make the list, students must be registered for at least six college credits and have a 3.5 to 4.0 grade point average.
The New York National Guard has announced that a number of its members from Queens have reenlisted for service—including Bayside’s Spc. Giancarlo Schimmenti (1156th Engineer Company); Flushing’s Spc. Joseph Dagostino (Company B, 101st Signal Battalion); Briarwood’s Sgt. Robert Gonzalez (Company B, 642nd Support Battalion); Richmond Hill’s Sgt. Ana Bello (Company G, Forward Support Company Field Artillery, 427th Brigade Support Battalion); Woodhaven’s Corp. Jakub Jakubowski (133rd Quartermaster Support Company); Howard Beach’s Sgt. First Class Gino Pena (Company C, 101st Signal Battalion); Woodside’s Corp. Kevin Caban (107th Military Police Company); Corona’s Spc. Jianzhi Huang (Company D, 1-69th Infantry); East Elmhurst’s Sgt. Ronald Roldan (Company B, 101st Signal Battalion); Astoria’s Sgt. Sky Taylor (Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 42nd Combat Aviation Brigade); Springfield Gardens’ Sgt. James Scott (107th Military Police Company); Queens Village’s Staff Sgt. Francisco Madrid (719th Transportation Company); and Queens’ Spc. Alain Seraphin (Company C, 101st Signal Battalion).
Several Queens students—including Ozone Park’s Laurel Hegel (a senior nursing major), Maspeth’s Darwin Bloise (a junior graphic design major) and Breezy Point’s Trevor Mackay (a junior criminal justice major)—have been named to the dean’s list at York College of Pennsylvania for the fall 2017 semester. To make the list, students must be registered for at least 12 academic credits and earn a semester GPA of 3.5 or higher.
