ATTEMPTED RAPE —
Police are searching for a man wanted in connection with an attempted rape in Jackson Heights on April 16.
Just after 4:30 a.m., a man approached a 35-year-old woman from behind at 74th Street and 37th Avenue and pulled her backwards by the arms, punching her in the back of the head numerous times, police said. When the victim fell to the ground, the individual dragged her over to a fence, where he attempted to sexually assault her.
The victim foght off the individual and ran towards 37th Avenue, where she sought help from a passing motorist. The suspect fled northbound on 74th Street with the victim’s purse. The victim suffered bruising and abrasions to her head and torso and was removed to Elmhurst General Hospital in stable condition.
The suspect is described as a five-foot-five-inch Hispanic man between the ages of 30 and 35 years. He has a medium build and was last seen wearing a white jacket, green shirt, black shoes and light colored pants.
