Police said that they are searching for an individual wanted in connection with an assault that occurred in Long Island City on July 4.
Just after 9 p.m., the suspect engaged in a dispute with a 35-year-old man near 38-38 Vernon Blvd. that turned physical. The suspect brandished a firearm and shot the victim once in the left leg and in the abdomen.
Police said that the suspect fled the location and the victim was removed to Cornell Medical Center for his injuries. The individual is described as a black man with a medium complexion who is believed to be between the ages of 20 and 30. He was last seen wearing a black short-sleeved shirt, black shorts and black sneakers.
