114th Pct.: Collision Investigation & Grand Larceny

COLLISION INVESTIGATION – At 10:25 p.m. on March 7, police responded to a 911 call of a pedestrian struck at Northern Boulevard and 40th Road.

Upon arrival, police officers observed the victim, identified as Kumar Ragunath, 64, of Kew Gardens, unconscious and unresponsive with severe head trauma and a broken leg. EMS responded and transported the victim to Elmhurst Hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

Further investigation revealed that a dark-colored Chevy Blazer was traveling in the right lane westbound on Northern Boulevard when the vehicle struck the pedestrian, who was attempting to cross Northern Boulevard outside of any marked crosswalk.

After striking the pedestrian, the vehicle fled the scene westbound. There are no arrests at this time and the incident is being investigated by the NYPD’s Highway Division, Collision Investigation Squad.

114th Grand LarcenyGRAND LARCENY – The NYPD is asking the public’s assistance identifying the suspect (left) wanted for grand larceny.

On Jan. 13, the victim’s credit card was stolen from his locker at Retro Fitness, located at 32-32 49th St., Long Island City. Later that day, the credit card was used at Home Depot, located at 50-10 Northern Blvd., to purchase two box drills.
