COLLISION INVESTIGATION —
Police said that they are investigating a crash that left an 84-year-old Forest Hills man dead on Nov. 17.
Around 2:43 p.m., police responded to a 911 call of a motor vehicle collision involving a bicyclist struck on Fleet Street at Alderton Street in Rego Park. Upon arrival, police observed Yau-Teg Fung, who lives on Manse Street in Forest Hills, lying on the roadway with severe head trauma.
EMS transported Fung to Elmhurst Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead on Nov. 27. Further investigation by the NYPD’s Highway District Collision Investigation Squad determined that an 80-year-old woman operating a 2015 Toyota Camry was traveling west on Fleet Street and stopped for the stop sign at Alderton Street.
As she proceeded to travel into the intersection, Fung—who was traveling north on Alderton Street—continued into the intersection and struck the driver’s side rear door of the Camry before falling to the ground.
There are no arrests and the investigation is ongoing.
