FORGED INSTRUMENT —
Police are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying an individual wanted in connection to placing skimming devices on ATMs at Forest Hills and Rego Park banks.
On April 8, the individual entered an Astoria Bank branch, located at 63-72 108th St. in Forest Hills, between 9:05 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. and placed a skimming device on an ATM.
Then, on May 3, police were called in response to a skimming device discovered on an ATM at a bank, located at 97-33 Queens Blvd. in Rego Park. The initial fraudulent installation of the device alerted bank employees to its existence and they immediately shut down the ATM. No customers used the ATM after the fraudulent installation was attempted.
During the first incident, the suspect was described as a black man who was seen wearing a green, waist-length jacket, a dark colored bandana and eye glasses. In the second incident, he was described as a black or Hispanic man with a light complexion who was wearing a dark watch cap and gray hoodie.
