ATTEMPTED RAPE —
A 41-year-old Bayside man has been arrested on an attempted rape charge following an alleged incident on March 9.
Charlie Yu, who lives at 34-44 209th St. in Bayside, has been charged with attempted rape, strangulation, criminal sexual act, forcible touching, assault and sex abuse, police said
Around 4 a.m., the suspect is alleged to have entered a beauty salon on 164th Street and engaged a 29-year-old woman in a dispute. He then allegedly punched the woman about the face and body before sexually assaulting her and fleeing the location, police said.
The woman was removed to an area hospital, where she was listed in stable condition.
Police are searching for a man wanted in connection with a robbery that took place on March 19 in Flushing.
Around 11:50 a.m., a 29-year-old woman was riding in the elevator of a commercial building located at 133-47 Sanford Ave. in Flushing. When the elevator reached the second floor, a man riding in the elevator with her blocked the door and demanded money from the woman, who is pregnant, police said. The victim complied and exited the elevator.
The suspect stayed on the elevator and exited the building through the basement, police said. There were no injuries during the incident.
The suspect is described as a five-foot-seven-inch Hispanic male who is believed to be approximately 20 years of age. He has a medium complexion and was last seen wearing a black jacket and black boots.
FORGERY —A man is being sought in a forgery that took place at an ATM in Flushing on two different occasions in February, police said.
On Feb. 10 and 11, a man entered Flushing Bank at 144-51 Northern Blvd. around 1:15 p.m. and made fraudulent withdrawals of U.S. currency without permission or authority to do so, police said.
The suspect has been described as a white man between the ages of 20 and 30 years who was last seen wearing dark sunglasses, a bright green hat, purple scarf, dark jacket and dark pants.
