Luis Zambrano, 30, of Whitestone, the suspect arrested in the murder of Queens Village woman Angie Escobar, who was found stabbed to death in the trunk of a car at 22nd Avenue and Murray Street in Whitestone on Sept. 10, was officially charged with her murder Nov. 6.
Escobar’s body was found in the car after police came to the scene to investigate a foul odor coming from the vehicle. She was identified the next day.
An ongoing investigation has determined that Zambrano, the victim’s boyfriend, was last seen driving the vehicle, which was discovered in close proximity to his residence. On Sept. 16, Zambrano was arrested in Daleville, Va., where police say he fled after the murder. He has been charged with second-degree murder, fourth-degree grand larceny, third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, tampering with physical evidence and third-degree intimidation.
He was arraigned on Monday.
