DRUG ARREST – At 11:05 p.m. on March 7, uniformed officers assigned to the 107th Precinct responded to a 311 call of a noise complaint at 67-11 161st St., Fresh Meadows. Upon arrival, responding officers heard a loud radio coming from apartment 3B.
The officers knocked on the door and the suspect answered, holding a marijuana pipe. The officers, with the intention of writing the suspect a summons, asked him for his identification. Once inside, the officers observed approximately five pounds of alleged heroin on the table in the kitchen. The officers then placed the suspect under arrest.
The courts granted police a search warrant. After further search of the apartment, 1,948 glassines of heroin were discovered, along with packing materials and packing equipment.
The suspect, Frank Giardina of Fresh Meadows, was charged with first-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, amount greater than 8 oz.; second degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine; third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, intent to sell; and criminal possession of marijuana.
