COLLISION INVESTIGATION – At 9:05 p.m. on April 26, police responded to a 911 call of a motor vehicle accident involving a pedestrian struck near the intersection of Atlantic Avenue and 107th Street.
Upon arrival, officers observed a male, identified as Oscar Pauzhi, 54, of Woodhaven, lying in the roadway with severe head trauma. EMS also responded to the location and transported Pauzhi to Jamaica Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Further investigation revealed a 2006 Hyundai Elantra was traveling west on Atlantic Avenue in the right lane, approaching the intersection of 107th Street, when the pedestrian entered the roadway heading north on Atlantic Avenue, and was struck by the vehicle. The vehicle’s operator remained on the scene. There have been no arrests and the investigation is ongoing.
